The overview of cultural relationships between the people's Republic of China and Republic of Moldova (1991 - prezent)

          At the first sigh, Moldova and China are two very different countries and it doesn’t seem to have anything in common. Both on different continents, different culture with different concepts. China is not only the biggest country of Asia but also of the world. It has five thousand years old cultures. But they have something in common.  They are agricultural countries and a great majority of population is rural. The lacks of villages spread all over the country and the rural population have been the main resources of the cultural expansion as well as of the economic growth of their respective countries [1].

         As it seems our cultural relationship with China are not that old, but in reality there are some important events that took place and had a good resolution upon Moldova’s culture, we are referring to our great diplomatist Nicolae Milescu Spataru, his papers “The Journal of Travels to China” and “The Description of China” are studied by pupils and students in universities. These two masterpieces has played a good role in exploring China’s tradition, customs and culture.

          Our relationship with China is also known for Wine exposition which took place in Shanghai, and was held twice successfully. In 2007, There were nearly one hundred exhibitors coming from 17 countries, including Moldova France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Ukraine, Germany, Georgia, Lebanon, Australia, Canada, America, Brazil, Chile, South-Africa, Hong Kong and Taiwan regions of China as well, the exhibitors overseas occupied more than 70% of the whole with more than 6,000 professional audiences[2].

          Another fields where Chinese culture are very popular in our country is cuisine and cinematography. Who doesn’t know about The Dragon from Russia, Hero or Heavenly Legend?

          Nevertheless China’s culture, traditions and customs are more speeded in Moldova by the help of Chinese restaurants, movies, festivals than Moldova’s culture in China; we hope in the future to have the possibility to participate to more festivals, expositions, our authors to be translated in Chinese, or more student’s exchange. This way we can share our knowledge and experience for a developed cultural relationship.
